What to Expect
Chemical peels are ideal for revitalizing sun damaged, acne-prone, and aging skin. While there are many different types of chemical peels, they all utilize one or more acid solutions to remove the damaged outer layer of skin and improve skin tone and texture. Common peel solutions include glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), and resorcinol.
Our estheticians will help determine which peel is best for your skin. We offer several mild to medium strength chemical peels, all of which treat fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation (sun spots, age spots, melasma, skin discoloration), acne, and mild acne scarring.
After a chemical peel, you’ll experience a sunburn-like effect. Mild peels remove only the outer layer of skin, which may appear red and flaky for 3 to 7 days. Treatment time is 20 to 30 minutes, with little to no downtime necessary.
Medium peels remove the outer and middle layers of skin. After a medium peel, your skin will be red and swollen for 7 to 14 days, after which the dead skin will then turn brownish and peel off. It is very important to avoid any exposure to the sun while your skin heals.
The new skin that emerges after a chemical peel reveals a younger, more radiant complexion. Results are cumulative; while you’ll see improvements after only one treatment, you’ll experience maximum results with a series of peels.
